sweets for your sweet...
i don't think i've seen these around in Singapore before but i could definitely see this become a big hit at least during the holidays or festive seasons eg. valentine's day, easter, birthdays, bridal/baby showers etc.
priced from CAD15.99 (small gift box) to CAD280 (bulk gift box) or so.. these decorative sugar cubes are certainly not cheap. but just imagine how each of these delicate designs were painstakingly handcrafted, definitely a novelty gift worth splurging on for one of those special personal occasions, a corporate event or a pampering treat for your chi-chi tea parties.
i'm not a huge sugar fan (i always ask for less sugar in my drinks) but these just look soo pretty, such a pity if i don't share this along :)
check out other very pretty hand-designed sweets and cookies here, and some amazing sugar sculptures too!

so, McDonald's brought the pig back..
those of you who have heard of the controversy (and the Hong Lim Park protest) on how McDonald's Singapore had removed the "pig" doraemon toy from its original family of 12 zodiac sign animals, and their reasons for doing so... latest update: the pig is now BACK on the menu! (only in mid-april 2010).
McDonald's Singapore actually placed a print advertisement in today's Straits Times to express their apologies for that.
find out more on Straits Times.com and see more pictures of the now famous piggie here :)

flaunt your assets to get free drinks...
wow. what do you think of this?
some publicity stunt.. lol.
club offers free drinks based on bra sizes
"there are two judges, a man and a woman, who visually determine each woman's cup size. A women with an A cup would get one free drink, a B cup would get two, a C cup would get three, and a woman with a D cup gets a free bottle of vodka."
and yes.. this is a Singapore club.
i don't think i'd be that desperate for a free drink but if you've got assets you're proud of, what's stopping you from claiming your free vodka or two anyway? ;) and if you're not thrilled by the gimmick, just don't go to there *shrugs*.

show your guy how much you love him..
by printing his face on your fingernails! lol.
or vice versa...
honestly, this actually looks freaky to me.
i can't decide if it's cuz of the picture showing 2 grownup men with their own faces printed on their not-so-well-manicured fingernails, or the fact that people now print faces on their own nails. lol.
either way, you decide.
i still prefer having pretty little flowers, ribbons or just plain OPI nail polishes on my nails...

running from camera
sometimes, you see something, perhaps an idea so simple yet so innovative... that just makes you smile.
this made me smile today.
see the pictures below: all taken at different times, different locations.. but did you notice the one common thing about them? :)
check out his blog: running from camera.
no words, just pictures, and i really like it.
ps: i wonder as he was running away from his camera, had anyone ever ran away with it? :)

my horoscope reading - today
this is my horoscope reading for today.. hmm..
wonder what it means? lol :P
Libra - By Rick Levine
"It may not appear as if your personal life is going in the right direction now, but you'll probably end up getting what you want with sweet Venus conjunct the Solar Eclipse in your 4th House of Foundations. Just keep in mind that there could be a long haul in front of you before you reach satisfaction because today you are building a base for future operations. Remember, anything that's really significant is worth the wait."
i subscribe to the daily readings on my igoogle just for fun. i don't follow it everyday anyway, just an occasional read when i log on to check my emails or read some quick news snippets :) kinda fun.. though i only ever believe in the good things they say.. hehe ;)

the OCBC birthday cake story...
this story was featured in today's Straits Times, so i guess most of us in Singapore would have already read about it somehow. it is actually quite funny...
when i first saw the OCBC "sunday banking" TV commercial, i thought it was a tad bit exagerrative too, but i guess most people (including the OCBC folks) wouldn't have thought that someone would really act upon it and take the commercial at face value.
i applaud Kitchen Tigress' guts (and her mischievous streak) in challenging the bank for the fulfilment of the birthday cake. a bold lady she is and it is funny reading the story. this perhaps would send a gentle reminder to advertisers to be careful in promising what they cannot or are unwilling to deliver.
i personally don't quite agree with the tone of that blog post though..
anyway, now i wonder if this will encourage more people to visit OCBC everyday to ask for their birthday surprise too?

coke-powered phone, anyone? ;)
technology is advancing so rapidly, there really isn't anything that we can positively say "it's not possible" anymore :)
check out this really cool theory - coke-powered mobile phone.
in essence, here's how it works:
"The concept is using bio battery to replace the traditional battery to create a pollution free environment. Bio battery is an ecologically friendly energy generates electricity from carbohydrates (currently sugar) and utilizes enzymes as the catalyst. By using bio battery as the power source of the phone, it only needs a pack of sugary drink and it generates water and oxygen while the battery dies out." (Chinese designer, Daizi Zheng - via mashable.com)
if this takes off, looks like we'll soon be refilling our phones at convenience stores, vending machines, supermarkets.. with all sorts of soda drinks (i think it would look pretty cute with pink soda in it :P). maybe then, we won't just have regular coke, coke zero or pepsi twist.. we may also find coke apple, root beer nokia, black berry sprite... i'm sure the soda drinks manufacturers will be happy.
i'm just wondering, how will we keep the ants away from our phones?
