received this in email from a colleague today, and it makes so much sense :)

how well do you know your Internet acronyms? :)

in this day and age where anything most things quick, easy, shortcut are associated with better efficiency, we find ourselves bombarded with an ever-growing list of acronyms everywhere we go. ok, i'm not referring to the almost gibberish text-message-style abbreviations or slangs such as 'dunno', 'i luv u', 'wer r u', 'nmd abt tat ger who bot ur reserved makeup, more stks wil cum in tml', 'wat wer u tinking', 'i tot i saw u der'... *shudder* or the informal chat style short forms such as LOL, ROFLMAO, BRB, IDK, IIRC, IMHO, TMI...

what i'm talking about here are the common, universally recognised Internet (or tech) acronyms that we use so often in our daily lives that we wouldn't even stop to think twice about. so short, so quick, used so easily, that we probably didn't even realise that we didn't know what they stand for in the first place.

so, let's try this quick little test.. see how well you fare (without cheating) ;)

have you played the Google pacman game? :)

thanks to a friend's SMS notification, i logged on to Google homepage just few minutes ago, and played the Google pacman before typing this. i'm not a good gamer, my pacman 'died' 2 times before i finally managed to dodge all the monsters and eat up all the pac-dots to complete the course. final score 3750 :P

remember "Western Bar"? :)

do you remember the old-school handheld Casio game - Western Bar? :) i certainly do! that was the "IT" game when i was in primary school!

i never had one of those, so i always had to try to get into the good books of those few classmates who had it, then wait patiently for others to finish their turn before i could lay my hands on it.

so you can imagine how thrilled i was to find an iPhone version of the same game on the app store! granted it's not free.. but for that priceless reminiscence and nostalgia (and the uncontrollable odd grin on my face when i played it), it's definitely worth the US$0.99 price tag! LOL.
i love that oh-so-familiar tune and sounds they put on the iPhone game too...
it's not as easy to manoeuver your way on the touch screen (round rubber buttons are still more fun!).. but for good ol' times, i can live with it :D

if you don't have the iPhone or iPod Touch, try the online remake of it - Drunken Sherriff instead.

sometimes i just can't help but laugh at these crazy folks i work with, some of them are just so funny/spontaneous.

this is such a cheap thrill... recycled paper and DVD packaging, and it really works!
now if only the "smiley face stress ball" can be a tad bit less bouncy so that it'll stop bouncing off the wall...
