Singapore's very own "congratulatory note" to Obama

i don't intend to discuss politics on my blog, but this is interesting...

Yahoo! news article: Singapore opposition leader appeals to Obama on rights

... Chee Soon Juan, secretary general of the Singapore Democratic Party, posted his "message to President Obama" on the video sharing website YouTube, where he called Obama's Tuesday inauguration "an occasion of great moment."

Chee expressed hope that the United States "will pay more attention to the human rights abuses of the Singapore government and take positive steps to help Singapore join the community of democracies."

check out the 5-min. video clip on YouTube.

i personally do not agree with all he has said (some extremities). i stand by singapore's government and how we're run - though not perfect - you gain some, you lose some. nonetheless, one does have to give it to this man for his "never say die" perseverance...

paul & joe disney collection

the very adorable paul & joe disney collection (limited edition) was first launched in japan last spring (2008), and subsequently in north america and europe in november 2008. after a long enough wait, it is finally hitting our shores and other regions this spring (2009).

some sources said it'll be launched at isetan counters in singapore tomorrow or wednesday... so go check it out before they're all gone! :)

some reviews:
  • face color ball (2 shades available) @ S$48
  • milky lip treatment @ S$23
  • protective hand cream @ S$28
i want the bambi and stinky face color balls - so pretty!
oooh temptations, temptations, temptations!!

some amazing pictures..

i came across these pictures on MSN news and just had to share them.

1) A man rides a horse through a bonfire in San Bartolome de Pinares, Spain in honor of Saint Anthony, the patron saint of animals. (AP Photo/Victor R. Caivano)

2) Arctic sea smoke drifts by Raw Faith, an 88-foot galleon, on a minus-12 degree F in Rockland, Maine. Sea smoke occurs when very cold air passes over warmer water. (AP Photo/Robert F. Bukaty)

3) John Sherman is caked in snow while using a snow blower to clear his driveway and sidewalk in South Bend, Ind, The bitter cold stretched from Montana to Maine and as far south as Georgia, driving people to pile on layers upon layers if they had to go out, and keeping some children home from school. (AP Photo/South Bend Tribune, Jim Rider)

aren't they amazing?

(ps: though the first picture seems somewhat cruel to the horse, doesn't that hurt? do they apply anything before braving the fire? and how did they even make the horse obey? hmm...)

barbie loves stila this year

i thought i've somewhat gotten over my "makeup phase" but looks like i still can't quite shake away my penchant for prettily packaged, special tie-ups makeup collections.

stila is one of my all time favourite makeup brand, though recent years its popularity has been slowly dwindling away in singapore, now left with only 1 tiny counter tucked in a small corner at CK tangs.

following its love affair with M.A.C cosmetics in barbie loves M.A.C 2007, mattel has now joined hands with yet another chic cosmetics brand to launch "barbie loves stila" - coming very soon - spring 2009! details and pictures on this collection are quite limited at the moment (pic. below features only the "foxy doll" - 1 of the 4 cans available), but i sure am keeping my eyes wide open to keep a lookout on the other sets that'll be offered - ponytail, malibu, jewel. i think i'd likely find 1 or 2 sets that i'm gonna love and have to have!!

((*19 jan updates:))
- rouge deluxe: Barbie x stila

- NEW on sephora!

meanwhile, the new precious pearl colour collection for spring 2009 looks very pretty too. the colour mix looks nice, sensible and very wearable... quite unlike their usual all blues, all pink/browns, all greens palette. something different, promising.

i wonder if these will all make it to on our shores.

PS: i didn't know there was a "stila for bebe" too.. "knockout purple" and "the starlet" each of these palettes features 3 single eyeshadows + 1 convertible colour (for lip/cheek). quite cute, but i'm not crazy over this ;) *phew*
